Solidarity and Peace
SOLIDARITY
We are one human family. We are our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, wherever they may be. Loving our neighbour has global dimensions. At the core of the virtue of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace. Our love for all of our brothers and sisters calls us to seek a peaceful and just society where goods are distributed fairly, opportunity is promoted equally and the dignity of all is respected.

Trust Mass and Synod
Following a votive mass for All Saints, pupils gathered with children from across the Trust in workshop groups. Following the Jubilee theme of hope, these workshops, led by senior pupils from the secondary schools, facilitated discussions that enabled pupils to share their hopes for their schools and the world, as well as their own lives.

Learning about other Religions
Learning about other religions is important for promoting peace and solidarity as it cultivates cultural understanding and empathy, encourages interfaith dialogue and cooperation. It is important that we avoid prejudice and stereotype, so a good understanding of cultures and religions really helps our children to be peaceful, empathetic citizens in our diverse society. We learn about Judaism, Islam, Hinduism and Buddhism in RE.

Solidarity with our buddies
What better way to show solidarity to our new Reception class than to become a Buddy! Every Year 6 is paired up with a Reception Class pupil and becomes their Buddy for their time at St Bernadette. A Buddy is someone who takes a special interest in you and is someone you can look up to. Having someone who can stand by your side as you go through your school life is an amazing gesture of solidarity.
