If you have a safeguarding concern, the information below explains how you can report your concern.

What do you do if a child is immediate danger?

If a child is in immediate danger please call 999.

What should I do if a child makes a disclosure that he/she is being harmed?

  • Listen carefully to what is being said to you and try not to interrupt.
  • Reassure the pupil it is not their fault.
  • Stress that it was the right thing to tell an adult.
  • Be calm, attentive and non-judgemental.
  • Do not promise to keep what is said a secret.
  • Ask non-leading questions and use TED to clarify if necessary:

  • Inform your DSL or Deputy DSL (or Head Teacher / Co-Chair of Governors where appropriate)*
  • Remember, anyone can make a referral to Children's Services
