WELCOME TO THE YEAR 1 CLASS PAGE

Hello everyone!

Welcome to the Year 1 Class Page. In Year 1, we use Google Classroom to set homework and to send notices and updates on the children's learning. The children will receive their log ins shortly.
On this page, you will find some key information for Year 1, including:
-Links to resources that you can use to support your child's learning at home.
- Information about Phonics and the Phonics Screening Test.
-Information about the Zones of Regulation- a strategy that we are using in Year 1 this year.
-Key days to remember.
- Our Meet the Teacher presentation from September, so that you can recap on anything discussed in this meeting.

Year 1 is a fantastic year to be in. We will have such a fantastic time together learning lots of new things, making new friendships, making memories and having fun!

I am looking forward to having a happy, exciting and successful year together!

7TH SEPTEMBER 2022- MESSAGE
Hello everyone!
We are currently organising the set up of Google Classroom, so in the meantime I will post any messages on here.
- This class page is a work in progress- I am currently adding some information and resources that will be useful to you throughout the year.
-On Monday's Meet the Teacher meeting, I will go through a powerpoint presentation that I have made, which will hopefully give you a great insight into the year ahead, and answer any questions you may have. This meeting is at 2:45pm on Monday 12th September, and I am looking forward to seeing lots of you there!
-There is no homework this weekend, however all classes will be coming home with an exercise book. This is their "Free Write" book that they use in school- each week the children have a session where they can independently write. Please decorate this book at home- you can use stickers, wrapping paper, draw on it, whatever you would like to do, however please make sure it is still comfortable for the children to use to write on (e.g. no pom poms). Do not write in this book- this is a school book. Please return this by Friday 16th September at the latest.
-On Mondays, I will have my PPA (planning, preparation and assessment time- time out of class that all teachers are entitled to). Each Monday, Mr Riley will cover the class, along with Mrs Bowers.
-PE will be on Tuesday afternoons this half term, and we will have our first lesson next week, so please ensure your PE kit is in school.
-Please talk to your child about where they live/their street name/their address, to support their learning in Geography this half term!

The children have settled in so wonderfully to Year 1, and I am so proud of each and every one of them. We have had a lovely week together, and I am excited for the year ahead. Have a lovely weekend,  and I will see you all on Monday at 2:45pm.

12th September 2022
Hello everyone!
Thank you so much for attending our Meet the Teacher meeting earlier, it was so lovely to see all of you and it was great to have such great attendance!
I apologise for talking a bit too much for the initial slides and then having to rush through some of the last ones! I have attached the powerpoint that I made for the meeting below so you can have a look through these last few slides in more detail. If you have any questions, please let me know.

I have also attached a tutorial on how to get onto Google Classroom- again, any issues with this just let me know!

Thank you for such a lovely and supportive start to the year. As always, I say to the children "teamwork makes the dreamwork!" and this extends to parents and families at home. I want the absolute best for each and every child in my class and I am looking forward to working with you to nurture these children and hopefully create some wonderful memories together too!

See you all in the morning!
