Information

School meals

School meals are provided by Hertfordshire Catering and are cooked on site daily. Alternatively, pupils may bring packed lunches from home - parents are requested to include healthy choices in the lunches and there should be no chocolate or fizzy drinks. The school has a no nuts policy, as there are children in school with life-threatening allergies.

Menu

The menu is rotated on a three-weekly basis and comprises a hot meat or fish option, a hot vegetarian option, sandwich option and jacket potato. The whole menu changes twice a year: the current menu can be downloaded below.

Food allergies

If your child has food allergies or intolerances, the kitchen is unable to monitor this without a specific menu put in place. Herts Catering Ltd arrange this directly but please speak to the school office for advice on how to set this up.

Paying for school meals

The current cost of a pupil school meal is £2.50 for Juniors. All infants are provided with a free school meal. Payment for Junior meals must be made in advance and paid via the School Gateway System. All accounts must be kept in credit in order to ensure that we can provide your child with a meal.

Schools’ Fruit and Veg Scheme (SFVS)

Milk

Milk is a vital contributory factor to the growth of good strong bones and teeth and therefore it is important to a growing child. A 189ml carton of milk provides half the daily requirement of calcium of a 6 year old child. (The Dairy Council).

All children at St Bernadette can order milk for morning break using our online system- www.coolmilk.com. You are able to go online and sign your child up with one weeks notice for delivery. All children under 5 are entitled to free milk although you will still need to complete the online process. for your child to receive this. If you have any queries, please speak to the school office.
