This week our learning will focus on the story of
The Bad -Tempered Ladybird by Eric Carle
Please start by watching the story https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmmdCoKZJaI
Talk about the story. How is the friendly ladybird kind to the bad-tempered ladybird? How can we be kind to our friends and our family? Discuss together. Encourage your child to draw a picture of them being kind to a friend or a member of family. Ask your child what is happening in the picture and write down (pupil voice)
Warm up - Start by counting to 10 together. Now encourage your child to count out 10 objects, pointing to each object as it is counted. Support your child as necessary.
Draw the outline of a ladybird for your child. Model how to draw the same number of spots on each side of the ladybird. Count the spots on each side and talk about how each side has the same number of spots. Encourage your child to choose a number and draw that many spots on one half of the ladybird. Count the spots. Ask your child to draw the same number of spots on the other side of the ladybird. Count the spots. Does each side of the ladybird have the same number of spots? How many spots altogether?
Watch cbeebies Ladybird Adventure https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nl7KqpqoN9o
Talk about ladybirds. What do they look like? What is special about a ladybird? (They have the same number of spots on each side) Can you find a ladybird outside?
Draw and colour a picture of a ladybird. Can your child label the ladybird? Model this as needed. Please don't forget to share your learning through Tapestry. Hope you have fun!
