04.05.18 Our next ERIC session will take place on Friday 11th May.
ERIC session Invitation
We would like to invite you to our ERIC session for this Term on Friday 11th May at 8.45 until 9.15.
ERIC stands for everyone reading in class and we are aiming these reading sessions predominantly at male relatives (hence the name ERIC). The session will last for half an hour and it will provide you with an opportunity to come into school with your child and read books together. Research shows that it is just as valuable for a child to be read to as it is for them to read themselves. So, we would suggest that you use this opportunity to take part in various reading activities.
We are aiming these reading sessions predominantly at male relatives because we recognise there are often fewer opportunities for the dads, granddads, uncles, big brothers (and so on) to be actively involved in their child’s school life. However, we do of course understand that there may not be a male relative that is able to read with your child that morning and in this case we are more than happy for a female relative to attend instead.
During the session there will be a wide range of books available for you to read to/with your child, including their weekly reading books and library books but if your child has a favourite book or magazine at home that they would like to bring in with them, please do.
There is no need to notify us whether you can attend or not, just simply come into class with your child on the day.
We hope that you can make it and we look forward to seeing you then.
Huge thank you to all the parents and grandparents who attended our first ERIC session. Everyone who attended the session really enjoyed the atmosphere.
We are going to repeat it in Spring 2 and Summer term :)
