Osiligi Maasai Warriors visit St Bernadette School
On Monday 17th October 2016, the children & staff at St Bernadette School were given the unique opportunity to spend a morning with the Osiligi Maasai Warriors. 'Osiligi' translated means hope and the Troupe's UK tours bring them this in abundance, particularly since the formation of their charity, Osiligi Charity projects in 2010. The charity has brought the Troupe's community fresh water, solar lighting, horticultural training, a new church/community centre and most wonderfully a new school.
The seven-piece group originate from the village of Oleopolos and surrounding communities in southern Kenya. They performed authentic and exciting Maasai tribal songs and dance plus the world-famous Maasai jumping. The troupe were received with great excitement and curiosity from the children providing them with an insight into a new culture and way of life.
After he initial assembly, The Maasai Warriors spent some time within each class, answering questions led by the children. The morning ended in the dining room where the Maasai Warriors dined on a scrumptious St Bernadette school lunch with the children.
A truly amazing morning, had by all!
